The 10 most frequently asked questions about linen bedding?

1. Is linen soft? 
   Yes, linen is soft, and what's great is that it will get softer over time just by sleeping in it and washing it! Not all linen will feel the same and some will be softer than others, for example the woven linens will feel more textured and coloured linens will feel much silkier.

2. Does linen wrinkle easily?
   Linen is known for its distinctive wrinkles, but we think this adds to its natural charm. It's the kind of bedding that looks good thrown on the bed; no styling necessary. But if wrinkles are just not your bag and you like a more polished look, that's ok too.  You can steam or iron your sheets on a very low heat and ideally when still slightly damp.

3. Is linen good for hot weather?
   Linen is highly breathable and helps regulate body temperature, making it ideal for warm weather. It's hollow fibres alllow air to pass through easily keeping you fresh and cool.

4. Is linen durable?
   Linen is one of the toughest fabrics that we can sustainably make bedding out of. It is almost three times stronger than cotton. With proper care, it can last for many years. 

5. How often should I wash my linen bedding?
   Ah, the dirty secret most people are afraid to ask. Depending on a few personal factors (ahem) we recommend at a minimum every other week. There is nothing quite like jumping into fresh clean bed sheets so we aim for once a week in our household.

6. Does linen shrink?
   Yes, linen can shrink and stretch if it's not washed and dried properly. Check out our Care Guide  to make sure you get the best out of your new sheets!

7. Does linen fade?
   Like any natural fibre linen is susceptible to fading, but there are some simple things you can do to reduce this. Where possible it's best to keep it out of direct sunlight, so line drying in the shade and storing in a linen cupboard. Use a gentle liquid detergent and reduce exposure to heat, think limited tumble drying/ironing/steaming.

8. Why is linen more expensive than other fabrics?
   Even though linen today is widely available, it is still considered a lavish, luxury item. The main reason is the high production costs; growing, harvesting and weaving are both laborious and time consuming processes. 9. Is linen bedding eco-friendly?
   Linen is a very sustainable and environmentally friendly choice. Flax is a renewable resource and requires far less water and pesticides to grow compared to cotton. The whole flax plant can be utilised, leaving almost no waste. It is also biodegradable. 

10. What is linen made of?
